2006 — Day 31 - loppercation. Is that a word?

Alter(c)ations may result if it isn't. Anyhowsoever, as soon as Christa saw the photo of her good self up the ladder she commanded me to illustrate the power lopper alligator chainsaw thingy. I don't have a shot of it in action yet, being too craven to get near it. But I have one of it poised on a chair (awaiting re-oiling I believe — hint, hint) while She who must be adored gets stuck into some of the latest batch of clothes she's been delightedly buying and/or altering in light of her slimmer profile.

DTP à go-go

I am now the proud owner of a successfully-installed copy of QuarkXPress v5 (promptly upgraded to v5r1). The registration web site silently sprang into life earlier today — mind you, as I browsed one of the accompanying PDF files everything ground to an irritating halt while Adobe decided to upgrade my reader from 7.0.7 to 7.0.8 and take two complete re-boots while doing so. Odd, isn't it? I used to collect pocket calculators, now I seem to collect DTP software. Of course, the rest of the planet is moving steadily away from the printed word, no matter how nicely laid out.

Serves you right department

What with that, and successfully downloading and cutting a live ISO CD of the new level of ubuntu ahead of my mammoth re-installation exercise on the Gateway PC to turn it away from the Dark Side and (I hope) into a reasonably powerful server... I'm almost prepared to overlook the rain that has been seeking its way in from all angles.
