Letters A to Z
One of my hobbies is collecting the sort of text fragments [over 200 so far] that, in earlier times, ended up in "commonplace books". I apologise, but this is one of the pages on the site where you really will need to enable images! Click on the initial letter for samples... And if it isn't immediately obvious why a particular choice resides under a particular letter, so much the better!
There are (so far) two pages for a pair of particular favourites: Ernest Bramah, and Emo Philips. I'm also vaguely contemplating one for Coral Browne stories...
It goes (almost) without saying that there are on this planet people who take the whole business of quotation collecting (and, indeed, many other forms of collecting) to extremes that leave me coughing and spluttering in the dust. May I draw your attention to Michael Moncur's Quotations page? He currently shows 12 quotations by Jeff Melvoin from the wonderful TV Series "Northern Exposure". That's about as good as you can get, it seems to me!
