2015 — 1 April: Wednesday — rabbits!
A mere placeholder this morning until1 I wake up.
An amusing...
... overnight email from niece #2 — aka "Danger(mouse)" the helicopter pilot, mother-of-two, and one-time Spitfire passenger now back in Uni for another degree, apparently. I fear I must side with Uncle Vanya on the perils of too much externally-applied education. Though I expect that's just the auto-didact who lives in my head speaking. Not that I always listen. Or understand.
I shall nip out to fix the problem of Mother Hubbard's cupboard before the (sunny) morning gets too crowded. [Pause] Done, and now to be followed by the perennial problem of plum stewing. Why a problem? 'Cos I tend to eat the stuff on more than just my morning cereal. So it tends to run out. Last night, for example, I thickly smeared some pancakes with my potent mix of plums, cranberries, and blackcurrants. Majorly tasty, and a pleasant change from simple lemon juice.
Is the appropriate...
... response to this...
According to Kevin Spacey, his friend Bill Clinton says 99% of what's seen on "House of Cards" is true. Spacey tells Gotham magazine, while doing his best Clinton impression:
"Kevin, 99% of what you do on that show is real. The 1% you get wrong is you could never get an education bill passed that fast."
... amazement, amusement, or just a simple shudder of horror?
As I ponder...
... the vast array of lunch possibilities2 waiting for me — out in the experimental biochemistry Lab some people might refer to as a "kitchen" — to tackle the growing and grumbling void in my tum, I'm pleased to note my predicted evening entertainment...
... has just shown up. [Pause]
I always liked reading...
... Dick Pountain's "take" on technology back when he had articles appearing in "PCW" magazine. Indeed, I still have his review of the Acorn Archimedes RISC box from back when I was pondering what to get for my next generation of home computing after the Amstrad CP/M machine had, as it were, run out of steam. I mentioned him four years ago. And that's how — indirectly — today, I'm publishing my test results:
Not that I believe a word of it. Nice title though :-)
I was delighted...
... on my return from another (successful) mission of computer mercy to stop Iris yelling "Eek!", to learn that a previously nameless passage somewhere in London NW3 is to be named "Triffid Alley". Unless, of course, it was one of Langford's April Fool's spoof items. (Link.)
I was a bit less taken by the combination of prawns on toast and a slo-mo 'splash' of pomegranate molasses (I have to use it up somehow now that I've opened the bottle) but, again, it makes a change from lemon juice. My dentist takes a very dim view of lemon juice.
