2014 — 3 July: Thursday

What would I do1 without my morning cuppa? Now it seems we're all expected to start worrying about 'undetectable' bombs on planes. Perhaps we should take a leaf out of Heinlein's "The Puppet Masters"? After all, taking it to its logical conclusion, why not simply have all passengers travel stark naked? In suspended animation. Or strap them to individual drones and kill, as it were, two birds with each stone? Forget luggage, of course. That should make a worthwhile impact on all those nasty carbon footprints, too...

Who really needs to fly?

Ron Cobb and the need for speed

Other than that mysterious entity, the 1%, of course. And besides, who cares if they get blown2 to smithereens? :-)

Loss

A charmlessly-accurate line from Rilke, found in a comment here.

We order it, it falls apart, we order it again and fall apart ourselves.
But fall we do.

I would hate to lose my music.

Passing strange...

... to recall that this is now the seventh anniversary of receiving what rapidly turned out to be Christa's terminal diagnosis. And yet it is, and yet here I still am. Still retired. Still indolent. Still (just about) solvent... mobile... sane.

No need for speed

Not quite fallen apart :-)

That was a very tasty NZ Braeburn I was enjoying as my 'pudding' during our pit-stop on yesterday's walk.

Before I forget...

... I'm now snaffling the 10th (and final) episode of Season #2 of "Orphan Black" and thus eating into the new month's download bandwidth. Mustn't forget to get the next episode of "Episodes" either — unless I'm already too late. (It's an uproariously funny piece of non-PC knowing TV satire.)

And now my Android smart-(everything-but-a-)phone has pestered me into allowing it to do a system update, too. Imperious little device, that one. Good job the Force is not too strong.

Good ol'...

... Uncle ERNIE has just come up post-prandial trumps with another pair of £25 promises for July. I like it when that happens.

Still doing...

... your little bit for the digital economy...

Not much speed

... I see. I am at something of a loss to explain the upload data totals, but they're not counted against my monthly limit.

Later

It's been a hot, sunny afternoon so — naturally — I spent a portion of it over with Roger & Eileen supping hot tea. And a portion of it dodging the roadworks that have closed off part of Hocombe Road.

Footnotes

1  I shudder to think.
2  Not a big supporter of the obscenely-ludicrous "trickle down" theory of economic enrichment, me.
