2011 — 3 February: Thursday

The merest placeholder1 as I suspect I'm about to fall asleep. I've been over-dosing on a diet of music from 16 Horsepower — a group I first heard in a record and bookshop in Calais where (with some difficulty) I managed to make known my wish to buy a copy of what was being played on their shop's music system.

Come to think of it, I bought my copy of Robert Crumb's "Miettes" ("Odds and Ends") in the same shop. That means it was on 26th March 2001.

G'night...

I do like...

... a cephalopodic bit of Interweb fun before breakfast. Thanks, Ian. [Pause] Although breakfast is now a work in progress I won't have time for my next blast of supplies shopping until after today's fresh air and (exercise)2 (not a footnote!) and I must also clear everything out of the car before they take it away tomorrow.

It's 08:50 and rather cloudy. It was sunnier earlier, in fact.

He would say that,...

... wouldn't he?

Rumsfeld suggests that Bush was at fault for not doing more to resolve disagreements among senior advisers.
Bush "did not always receive, and may not have insisted on, a timely consideration of his options before he made a decision, nor did he always receive effective implementation of the decisions he made," Rumsfeld wrote.

The Guardian

I can't help noticing that Mr Rumsfeld's web site demands a password...
Which, in my case, "I 'ave not got"... :-)

Another 8.02 miles...

... of gloriously sunny Hampshire countryside, though rarely out of earshot of the unblessed motorway this time. It's good for us! Time (13:32) for a hasty cuppa and then the supplies trail. Shades of the White Rabbit.

Later

Having shopped, I took my main copilot out for tea and a bun at Hillier's as the sun was still shining. I'm now (16:45) back at the ranch and have just removed from the car anything that isn't nailed down. I should get the Prius tomorrow morning at about 09:00 but I don't yet know exactly what time my battered Yaris is due to be driven away for some serious smoothing therapy.

Meanwhile Mr Postie dropped off news of Doonesbury's latest foray into therapy. Trudeau has been following the post-combat rehabilitation of two of his characters with (I'm pleased to see) all proceeds going to benefit Fisher House. While it's fair to say that, over many years, very few US Presidential teams have been keen fans of the strip, the military has no cause for complaint. "TBI", by the way, is "traumatic brain injury".

I am very aware that we walked quite a goodly way today. Could I be getting older, do you think? [Pause] Right. It's 18:28 and time for my evening meal. Yum.

Something's not right: two good films2 (a footnote!) in two consecutive evenings? How can that be?

On a whim...

... I've decided to give LibreOffice the run of BlackBeast for a while to see if I prefer it to OpenOffice. I like the price.
