The Biblical statement that "the very hairs of your head are all numbered" (Matt. x: 30), whether metaphor or not, was intended to emphasise the interest of the Omniscient in humanity by his having a knowledge that it was regarded as absurd for any human being to attempt.

Perhaps EE "Doc" Smith, PhD. (by reputation, at least, the pulp SF doughnut technologist who invented the
hole in the middle of a ring-shaped doughnut after having failed to find a way of baking it
satisfactorily) may have been stumbling around the
edge of the same point here when he had one of his Arisian super-brains
predict to a pair of Lensmen, years ahead, and on a different planet, a minor shaving incident! Mind you, the more the
bizarre ramifications of quantum theory sink in, the less the Universe seems like a predictable (albeit complex)
piece of clockwork.
