2016 — 21 January: Thursday

Alas, that partially-dismantled LED bulb1 reverted to its flicker and flash behaviour yesterday evening, so it will shortly be leaving the building. As will I; there's a lunch date today.

It's already 3C out there!

I believe...

... this may just be the silliest question I shall read this year:

social media

Optimist? Moi?

There's a plausible explanation here. And more to ponder here. Some assertions of which are further supported here.

Remind me when the singularity is due!

Grrr!

The feather warcast for Friday is making a walk look extremely unlikely. Rain? Gales? Nice. Perhaps it's still mid-winter? Who needs fresh air? Beulah! Peel me a (sour) grape.

I'm starting to think...

... that Kodi is a tool whose unstated primary purpose is to drive me nuts. Meanwhile, the latest mailshot from AbeBooks suggests my 1977 first edition Folio Society "Lord of the Rings" boxed set could fetch £275 — it has none of the flaws described by the sellers of the three sets currently showing up — has the world gone mad?

Today's...

... unsolicited caller was "James" (whose strong Indian accent suggested that might not be his real name). He purported to be from some world wide computer company and was very anxious to talk to me about "my computer". Derailing him from his script began when I simply asked him how much money he would be paying me for whatever this information was that he wanted from me.

Although I've never done so, I imagine it was a bit like shooting fish in a barrel.
