2015 — 6 December: Sunday

Heigh ho, it's me for the Open Road.1

Well, that had been the plan until I woke up at about 04:30 feeling distinctly 'naff'. I have made my apologies to my half-aunt but will be taking things easy down here in the sub-tropical portion of our benighted island today.

Despite having watched...

... last night's double — and somewhat toxic — dose of bafflement that is "The Bridge" I've now snaffled the hi-def downloads with "get_iplayer" for further torment. Several times, I found myself muttering "None of these people are nice, and they all seem to have hidden agendas". They don't get enough sunshine up there, clearly.

Not that anyone in Paul Bartel's masterly "Scenes from the class struggle in Beverly Hills" was any better. And they certainly do get plenty of sunshine. It's the title I've just reached as I continue this exercise of plumbing my video collection into Kodi. I note I paid a mere $39-95 for this title when I bought it on LaserDisc in June 1990. It's one of the LDs that I rescued from "laser rot" by transcribing to a DVD-R over a decade ago.

I suspect...

... I might have felt more sympathetic towards the 1976 Herbert Ross film "The seven-per-cent solution" had I ever previously seen the (clearly Mucha-inspired) American poster for it:

Watson's accent is still a problem, though.

There's an enjoyable...

... lump of Sibelius coming out of BBC Radio 3 at the moment. It is dispelling the effects of the only recently-watched "The Signal".
