2012 — 14 December: Friday
My cousins are both working girls1 so they've suggested I don't arrive until 18:00 or so. Just as well as that will give me plenty of time for the long-procrastinated spot of packing the round tuit for which mysteriously failed to show up yesterday. As for "all the ice" Peter's g/f was worried about on my behalf, the present grey and grim conditions tell me heavy rain and some wind are going to be today's major components of the driving mixture. Preferable to snow and ice, certainly, but not much fun on motorways.
Meanwhile...
... all the MP3s living in subfolders "A" to "D" (a little under 10,000) have been 'processed' through my latest tag-cleanup exercise, and I even found time to listen to some of them, and to fail to solve an odd IFrame problem for my ex-ICL chum as he continues his web labouring on behalf of National Treasure Tuppy Owens. And looking on the cheerier side, I no longer have to wrack my brain to find a suitable birthday present for Christa this Sunday. She was by no means the easiest to surprise and/or preferably delight in that annual ritual.
KBO
I won't now see Peter and Peter's g/f until tomorrow as they've decided to postpone what would have been a late evening drive up from London for our rendezvous. I can't say I blame them given the usual Friday litany of traffic horrors, but I still hope to dodge most of that myself (of course!). It's +7C and pouring with rain. I expect to unearth my little overnight suitcase any minute now. In time for "lemonses", at least.
Cometh the hour...
... departeth the man, or words to that effect. I've checked the weather and traffic maps, have a rough idea of my route and — crucially — seem to have finished my packing, about two minutes after I started it. Wonder what I've forgotten? Time will reveal that. First, a bite to eat. Must remember to screw the car's radio aerial back in2 so I can half-listen to Kermode and Mayo, assuming they're not off on holiday already.
Well, stone me!
Not only does our guvmint have a policy on drugs but (apparently) it's working. I wonder exactly what they've been smoking in Whitehall. (Link.)
