2012 — 1 September: Saturday — rabbits!

Off for a walk (later) this morning, following last night's pleasant but filling meal, that was itself then followed by a viewing of "War Games". (1983!) All this ahead of Junior's asset-stripping visit. I've asked him to leave me access to the garage. Let's see if he remembers to.1

G'night.

An hour or so...

... of BBC Radio 3's "Breakfast", plus my own breakfast, a cuppa or two and some Sudoku, and I'm about ready to pack a lunch and dig out my walking boots. The day is grey, and cool enough for the heating to have triggered. But no rain so far. It's 08:45 and counting.

"Pensioners have been caught in a perfect storm of low interest rates and rising inflation" for the last five years. (No effing comment!) :-(

While looking for something on the BBC news web pages to substantiate this soundbite, I found instead this little peach. Can you guess what is being 'discussed'?

Book

Having read (and quite enjoyed) the trilogy, I cannot see any reason to describe it as "a paean to sadomasochism" either. But why let facts get in the way of a silly season story?

Later

Following a pleasant, if humidly sticky, walk around Horsebridge of nearly seven miles, I decanted Mike back at his house and headed home via the go-juice shop. The young people showed up about five minutes after I'd showered, which worked out nicely. Peter is quite keen to try my (now ancient) Acorn A5000 emulator software as he still remembers the easy interface of Acorn's "Draw" application and wants to produce some plans of the house for various layers of work now needing to be done on it. Peter's g/f has hoovered up the six or so volumes of gardening lore that I've kept (but must admit never read) from Christa's study as she, too, has plans to be planned (as it were).

They've threatened to take me out for a meal this evening before they head back into the Smoke. At this rate, I shall have to start thinking about a diet, I suspect.

And so it...

... came to pass. Another nice meal at "Oxfords" followed by some brief exposure to "Dynamo" and, before you know it, it's 22:42ish. They've decided to stay the night and do a spot of shopping down in West Quay before they toddle back home.

1  And also whether he remembers to bring his house key with him (he's been known to forget it).
