2012 — 22 July: Sunday
Despite the current improvement in the weather, my fellow walker was feeling one degree under1 last night so, in case he's infectious, we've agreed to go our separate ways today. Get well soon, Michael! (He tells me the fever has broken, so that's a step in the right thermal direction.)
Right. What's next on my never-shrinking list...? Perhaps another piece of the "carpet-to-rug" sticky thing as the bit I bought has proved it's not quite enough for the hallway but "the technology" holds promise. Certainly another cuppa. High probability of breakfast, too. And clothes, at some point. All to a delightful background of Cerys and her music choices. (Delicious Welsh accent, too.)
Big Bro's depredations...
... in my food cupboard have been mitigated, and I swung by Len on the way home. So he not only has his forgotten HP Lovecraft hoody back, but the power plug adapter he needed to enable him to boot up his Raspberry Pi for the first time. Since he's also using an hdmi-to-DVI video adapter lead from me, I feel almost part-ownership :-)
I've the oddest feeling that this slice of Pi is going to be on my own "to acquire" list before much longer. I'm still bemused by the thought that its ARM11 processor is three times the speed of the StrongARM upgrade I fitted to my Acorn RiscPC in 1996.
Nearly time for a spot of lunch, methinks.
Isn't it nice to have a relaxed, sunny (but not too hot) midsummer Sunday afternoon? What a pleasant change!
Been here before?
Not only is there a new 'ARMini' computer (whose existence I'd managed to overlook) but there's hope yet for RISC OS on a Pi.
An 'alpha' version of RISC OS is available to run on the Raspberry Pi. RISC OS Open Ltd hope to offer an SD card in September 2012 which, when inserted into the Raspberry Pi, effortlessly turns it into a RISC OS computer.
Tee-hee. Time for tea, methinks. It's 18:38 and the sun shines on nicely.
I've just finished...
... re-watching the first episode of the new Aaron Sorkin drama "The Newsroom" — it's definitely growing on me. I also have a sample of an Fx channel show called "American Horror Story" but I don't think I want to be watching that last thing at night :-)
I've had my supper / cuppa and am vaguely thinking of calling it a night... I've just learned that every time Dave Brubeck's "Take 5" is played on the radio, the American Red Cross gets a royalty payment. This is still running at $100K per year, according to Guy Garvey. How magical is that?
