2012 — 21 March: Wednesday

As I shut down BlackBeast for the night I noticed I'd lost my Internet connection. Happily, it seems to have sorted itself out this morning. "If you can read this" as they say...

Today's walk1 should find us supping a pint at the "Flower Pots" at the halfway point. Plenty of time to work up a thirst before that. It's only 07:07 after all.

A kindred (should that be Kindle?) spirit

I can recognise myself (albeit with different choices of material) perfectly clearly. Source and snippet:

Oh Kindle, my Kindle! ... In my mind, I was running from treasure (Whitman!) to treasure (Wuthering Heights!), picking and choosing and downloading, reading, rejoicing, and going back for more. I felt bright and happy and active.
But what did I look like? I looked like I was sitting in a chair, staring at a tablet, pressing buttons. I'm an introvert, you see. All of this takes place on the inside. People who don't know me will mistake this as a good time to interrupt, because if they were sitting silently pressing buttons, they would be bored. But I am not bored, I am enthralled and having the time of my life! This is a very Do-Not-Disturb time. After all, I wouldn't interrupt you when you're watching the Super Bowl, would I?

"Chris" in Introvert

What's the Super Bowl? Doesn't sound like my kind of thing.

What a glorious day...

... for rambling the not-so wilds of Hampshire and sinking the aforementioned pint at the two-thirds point. (We went widdershins so as not to arrive before the pub opened.) Now (15:49) I'm showered and the laundry is laundering. Note to self: buy a new pair of jeans soon. They don't last forever.

The next wodge of cash is safely nestled in dear Mama's account ready for the care-home to whisk it away. There are easily a dozen buds now appearing on my pear tree. And I have a fresh cuppa to hand. Not too shabby, heh?

Having been...

... delighted after buying the box set of the first six seasons of "Bones" without ever having seen it before, and having now also enjoyed hearing two soundtrack albums from "Due South", I've decided to take another plunge into the televisual unknown and pick up the box set of that, too. IMDB shows it to have an impressive production pedigree.
