2012 — 22 January: Sunday
I don't agree with the BBC Radio 3 announcer's opinion1 — Barber's "Adagio for Strings" is by no means "perfect fare for a Sunday morning" as it always strikes me as being shamefully melancholic. Who needs that? I also recognised the Bernstein that more or less followed it (from its opening chord) from upstairs. There was an ominously pink tinge to this morning's sunrise, and now some substantial clouds are scudding around.
Time for tea ahead of today's little brunch invitation, for which I shan't even have to get out the car. As the crow flies, it's only a couple of hundred yards, but since this human crow will be sticking to pavements it's about half a mile. I'd better not forget to brush the dust off mine host's Jeff Beck CD which I've had on loan for well over a year.
At some point...
... I shall be attempting to re-install my Omnipage 18 OCR suite on BlackBeast Mark II. I shudder to recall its rather flakey web-based registration and activation process and remember being much irritated by a bunch of extraneous workflow stuff it kept wanting to splatter around my system drive, including some unwanted cloud storage. The trouble is, when you need some OCRing to be done, nothing else quite hits the spot, does it?
Later
I must say, Thomas and Sofie have found themselves a very nice new terrace house built where Hendy Lennox used to be. I suppose it's a 3-story townhouse, technically. They've chosen well. The Jeff Beck CD has been replaced by "New Cool Collective Big Band Live" which is a new (Dutch) one on me. Meanwhile, they'll be trying (among others) that lovely album of Cuban choral music I got last October...
... but somehow forgot to scan the artwork for, so I've just borrowed this from my Amazon order details. What was that? "Home swapping is killing music". You're kidding, right?
With any luck...
... there's a walk in the offing tomorrow. Preceded by sleep tonight, naturally. G'night.
