2011 — 21 December: Wednesday

Next thing you know1 it's 09:29. I got so sleepy so quickly yesterday evening I called it a day very early. Most unusual.

Golly!

Unwicked Uncle ERNIE has visited both me and dear Mama. Jolly well-timed, sir. It eases my final credit card bill of the year, which also plopped on to the mat this morning.

Paying in the littlesse took longer than normal — the magic machine in my bank was missing its display screen. Then there was the densely-packed Waitrose car park to contend with. There are some real advantages to having a nippy little Yaris with an amazing turning circle even if it's clearly invisible to all other road users.

I have just a few minutes back at Technology Towers to catch my breath and then I'm off out again on the Len lunch-time trail. Where shall we feast today, I wonder?

So long ago, that...

... our solar system still had a ninth planet, I entered a competition to supply a mnemonic device for remembering their sequence. I came up with the non-prize-winning:

My Very Extraordinary Manservant James Sees Umbrellas Neatly Placed
Planets

Len drew my attention to yesterday's xkcd of which the above is a mere one-sixth of the delights offered.

Talk about...

... "blast from the past". I've just watched the first two episodes of Season #1 of Buffy, the vampire slayer (and then spent several minutes in a vain attempt to find my copy of "The Quotable Slayer" to refresh my memory with some more of its witty dialogue). Is this my second childhood, or worse? I used to watch the occasional episode when Junior was hooked on it.
