2011 — 3 December: Saturday

Just for a change, I treated myself to an evening of solid "Planet Rock" on my satellite radio.1 I shall leave for later examination the suspicion I've been forming that my ADSL modem's irritating habit of dropping the network connection seems to correlate with incoming landline phone calls. Plus the interesting observation that, since I unhooked the phone upstairs on the landing, my file download speed has increased by 30%. The installation of the latest refresh of Office Libre can wait a few hours, too.

It's tomorrow already (as it were) and time for sleep. G'night.

Catching up...

... with yesterday's Kermode film podcast after the (usual) "Sounds of the 60s" — what a creature of habit I've become, heh? The sun is shining, and the sky is blue. The wind is blowing, somewhat, and my porch thermometer tells me it's 10C. I await my non-little CPU cooler but actually have very little else in the input hopper. And I only bought the one book yesterday. Maybe I'm coming down with something :-)

Mr Postie brings only a headache. For some reason British Telecom has suddenly started charging dear Mama for a phone line she no longer rents in a house she no longer owns despite not having done this for the past year. What do you reckon? Stupidity? Computer error? Fraud? Only the Shadow knows what evil lurks in their billing department.

While hesitating...

... to reveal the extent of my fanboy enthusiasms, I was intrigued (and — I admit — more than somewhat beguiled) by the two short video clips of actress Stana Katic speaking in a very relaxed and apparently unscripted way about her rôle in "Castle". Never let it be said I'm not a romantic softie at heart :-)

1  Nicky Horne and Alice Cooper as DJs. Surprisingly enjoyable.
