To describe my response to stories like this one as "conflicted" is putting it mildly. Source and snippet:

As a holistic therapy with Buddhist roots, [Reiki] clearly has serious spiritual implications but does not and cannot supply answers for the basic spiritual sicknesses of mankind such as sin, guilt, fear and the need for forgiveness and salvation.

When I saw it came originally from that beatific outlet the Daily Mail I only felt worse :-)

What actually woke me this morning was the thumping onto my door mat of a prospectus of part-time courses from Eastleigh College that includes "Chocolate Skills".1 Yummy. Not quite as yummy as this, however.

And I confess this entirely restored my good humour in time for brekkie and another cuppa. Warning: Your mileage may vary.

Today's summery weather (steady drizzle so far this morning) inclines me towards some indoor domestic catch-uppery. And I note someone around here has scoffed the last of the stewed plums, too.

There's not much...

... of interest to be said about drizzle, even after a nice lunch. On with the show. It's 13:49 but not remotely inviting out there. Current music: the 1973 album from Pete Atkin and Clive James: "A king at nightfall".

People complain about the BBC licence fee. Well, I've just sucked 120 BBC Radio 3 "jazz library" podcasts down to graze my way through. I'm not complaining :-)

Call me an old Luddite...

... but there's something about the Opera web browser that just doesn't feel right. It also, rather cheekily, made itself the default browser without asking me first, which was never going to endear it to me. So it's been expunged for the nth time. It's 21:55 and I'm doing a wodge of file copying in preparation for my dinky little new web and music server. I've also just finished rewatching the third of the "Twilight" films and its batch of extras in preparation for the fourth film in November.
