2011 — 27 March: Sunday
It's now, technically, British Summer Time1 and I've recently finished watching the second half of the "Angels in America" TV film; excellent, by the way. I was multi-tasking but will now give my Canon scanner a chance to cool down and call it a day (or a night). Here's just one of the 100+ slides I've scanned:
It dates back nearly 37 years to 1st June 1974 which was the day of our picnic trip to Oxford. I thought it amusing to ask Christa to pose by the Rolls Royce. G'night.
Having just discouraged...
... a large wasp from making her future home in my bedroom this morning, it's time for a cuppa while wondering if it's weather suitable for a walk. There's also a crockpot to be stuffed. It's 08:14 in "new" money and the world seems very quiet.
Just after 10:00 — the crockpot is set to simmer, breakfast is onboard, a packed lunch is, erm, packed. The sun is shining, and we're Stockbridge bound... [Pause] And back, some 7.1 miles later. The "John o'Gaunt" pub in/near Houghton was being refurbished just when we could have used a cool fizzy pint of something or other. No matter. It's 14:48 and I shall be in "feet up" mode for a while.
Empathy is as empathy does
That awfully nice chap Simon Baron-Cohen (not the one who's supposed to be funny, but his cousin, the one whose "systemising test" a few years ago showed Christa to have a more "Type S" brain even than her hapless hubby) is back with an interesting article here. Dare I take the test?
It's always nice to...
... know roughly where you are, I guess:
Particularly when visibility is really not very good:
Meanwhile...
... having scanned the 146 slides I unearthed since my last extended session with Mike's slide scanner over two years ago (bang goes another 4.58GB of disk space until I've finished, as it were, cutting them down to size), I thought I'd share this young chap with you. It always seemed to me that he had a strong personality of his own from very early on.
But then, with parents like me and Christa, what choice did he ever have? :-)
And, by the way, how can he possibly now be 31 years old?
