2010 — 17 October: Sunday

Well, the feather warcast is for cold but sunny, apparently.1 A walk will therefore be walked. But first, some sleep will be slept as it's already sneaked round to 00:24 or so. G'night.

Brrr

I see the morning ritual of scraping ice off the car has reared its head. Yes, it's cold and sunny. And 08:33 — cuppa, please! That's better. Now the age-old question: when should I start preparing my next crockpot creation? Soon, I think, if I want a tasty hot meal tonight.

Today's headlines are pretty unappealing:

Labour plans to make bankers pay
US shaken by violence against gays
Blacks face 26 times more searches
Oral sex cancer risk tackled on TV
Millions protest over Sarkozy's cuts
Mother told at reunion how son died
Mancini: I'd rather players womanise

I shall stick to reading about the reliable Simon Garfield's latest book. He clearly shares at least one more of my obsessions. Not that I'm typecasti(gati)ng him. [Pause] Crockpot stuffed, and breakfast going on board as I type. It's still sunny, and has crept along to 09:46 or so. Soon be time to set off for my walking rendezvous.

Back after a ramble of...

... 7.5 miles, give or take, under an initially cloudless blue sky. Pretty cool, though. There was a certain amount of back-tracking as the route was an unexplored one, starting from the "Bridge" at Shawford and basically looping around Twyford while trying to stay off roads as far as possible. Now (15:25) after a healthy snack lunch and a couple of cuppas, the CD artwork scanning has resumed. The way I see it, fresh air and exercise "buys" me time at my PC, though a radio item yesterday evening was busily (and counter-intuitively) asserting there's no proven correlation between physical activity and obesity. (I remain steady at 10kg lighter than when I was last in the IBM office.)

End of folder "P"

The 264th silver disc has just taken its place in the last pocket of the CaseLogic folder labelled "P". It was a 2004 CD called "As far as I can see..." by The Zombies (except that it's arguably Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent). So, do I now make a start on folder "Q", or do I take a break and watch the last two episodes of "Boston Legal, season #2"? Decisions, decisions. It's 20:36 and I think I need my next cuppa. It also seems to be quite cool out there.

Footnote

1  It is mid-October after all.
