2008 — 17 October: Friday

It's 00:01 or so. Last night's Boston Legal dealt, very effectively, with the apparently thorny topic of euthanasia for an Alzheimer's sufferer. While it was grim, it nonetheless reminded me that Christa and I had a slightly easier time that required no visit to a judge for a court order! We'd agreed that (when the time came) her pain control would take priority over food and drink, and that's a promise1 I was "glad" to be able to keep for her. <Sigh>

My picture tonight is from a much happier, earlier time:

Christa and Peter in Old Windsor

G'night.

It's the largest...

... ostrich sandwich in the world? Said world is evidently mad, and growing madder by the day. Good morning!

It's 08:07 and there's shopping to be shopped ahead of today's little walk and before this evening's little gathering. Right! Now time to pack a lunch (exotic lamb sandwich) and wonder (again) how the speedometer resets itself to km/hour. Still, I've just discovered the joys of Waitrose at an uncrowded hour. There was, by the look of it, a slight frost overnight, but the sun is blazing away in a clear blue sky right now. (And 'now' is 09:22.)

The natives are friendly...

... at the New Alresford golf club, across whose various fairways we tramped a fair way in the course of today's healthy little ramble in the sunshine and fresh air. I have several pics to process, but I think a nice hot soak takes priority just now. It's 15:35 and a chap's off out on hosting duty in just over two hours or so. After all, there's only one birthday a year, you know. Can't resist one taster, though:

What sort of colour do you call that, then?

Right! Time for a splosh. Clear a gangway there... Aah, that's better. Now, don't you get some strange trees growing in the English countryside?

I'd hate to be hit by the falling fruit

But just look at that blue sky!

Footnote

1  She did not die in pain, and that had truly been her only fear. A brave lady — but what a foul disease.
