2008 — Lurking in the fridge

Inside the veggie drawer, in fact. Remind me not always to believe Junior when he replies "Months!" to the simple question "How long can I safely keep spuds?" So today's buy-one-get-one-free steak and mushroom pie had a late substitution of peas for the planned potatoes. Still far too much for one chap to shovel down, though. I must have bought these before Christa died, dammit. Learn from this, David. <Sigh>

You have to laugh, though, I guess.

Big Bro has chimed in, although defeated by how to stop his Toshiba laptop fan from running flat out ("Tried the power stuff, found a max or min setting for cooling. However, despite my resetting from max to low, nothing actually changed on the fan. Ah well, the land of the geek has me baffled again. Congrats on the probate."):

If you had some garden you could plant them! It seems they are merely sprouting potatoes which could be the basis of a home grown supply! Quite safe to eat as well ... or at least they are if they remain firm!!! To slow down the rate at which this happens then keep in a cold dark place! May pay to check use by dates in the fridge or freezer as well. Some things do not keep forever!

I expect the bottom drawer inside the fridge qualifies as both cold and dark, but obviously Time is also another parameter.
